Young Envoys Scholarship(YES) Program Inner Mongolia Agricultural University(IMAU)

Program Introduction

To foster mutual understanding and meaningful collaborations among our young people and students from oversea high schools and universities, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University has launched the International exchange and Young Envoys Scholarship(YES) Program. This initiative aims to welcome American students and scholars to participate in academic and research activities in Inner Mongolia and IMAU, China.

Inner Mongolia is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, encompassing vast grasslands, deserts, lakes, and forests. It is the home of the legacy Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire, and the cultures of nomadic herders and ethnic Mongolians. At its core, IMAU is dedicated to ecological development, embracing renewable green technologies, hydroponic engineering, food science, and more, to foster a sustainable future.

Program Overview

1. Types of Scholarship

Visiting students:

Status: currently enrolled full-time high school, undergraduates, master, and Ph. D students

Nationality: U.S.A (United States of America)

Age: 14-22

Other: in good health both mentally and physically

Visiting Scholars:

Status: employed full-time faculties or administrators in an educational institution before or during this program

Nationality: U.S.A (United States of America)

Age: 23-45

Other: in good health both mentally and physically

Notes:The applicants should be registered as a full-time student or employed as a full-time academic staff at the time of application and throughout their proposed stay in China.

2. Duration

 From July 10 to July 20, 2024.

3. Language

English (Mandarin Chinese preferred).

Scholarship

Accepted applicants will be awarded a full scholarship from IMAU that covers their stay in China, including a tuition waiver, international airfare, on-campus room and board, domestic transportation, cultural tour tickets and comprehensive medical insurance.

Application Process

1. Applicants should log into the website of the College of International Education(CIE) of IMAU (https://gjjyxy.imau.edu.cn/) to download the application form.

2. Applicants should send the application form with the following supporting documents ①②③ to nndgjybgs@163.com by the deadline of May 31, 2024.

① ID photo (within the last 6 months)

② Passport Homepage: Applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of his/her passport that is valid for at least six months.

③ Proof of enrollment or Employment: a transcript or employment letter issued by your current school/university/Employed Institution.

④ Recommendation Letter from teacher/supervisor/boss should be sent to nndgjybgs@163.com directly by the referrer.

3. A maximum of 25 applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis. i.e. priority given to the earlier applications.

4. IMAU will notify the scholarship recipients before June 5, 2024.

Appendix 1: Itinerary for American Visiting Students/Scholars

Ø Day1 U.S. flight to Beijing

Ø Day2 Arrival at Hohhot and Welcome Ceremony

Ø Day3 On-campus Activities at IMAU

(Notes: The activities will be including but not limited to visiting the key labs of agriculture and animal husbandry, growing and picking hydroponic plants, interacting with Chinese students at IMAU, etc.)

Ø Day 4 Culture tour and city tour of Hohhot

Ø Day 5 Adventure in the Kubuqi Desert and Wuliangsuhai Wetland

Ø Day 6 Experienced the ethic culture in the Grassland

(Notes: You will have opportunity to explore interesting minorities cultures and nomadic lifestyle in west Inner Mongolia and make a cultural souvenir to take home with you. Discover the wild luxurious grasslands in a Mongolian way. Stay overnight at featured ethnic Mongolian yurts.

Ø Day 7 Back to Hohhot and Closing-Ceremony

Ø Day 8 Back to Beijing and culture tour

Ø Day 9 Contemporary Cultural Experience in Beijing

(Notes: The visiting sites will be including but not limited to the Tian’anmen Square, the Summer Palace, National Museum of China, high-tech Enterprises, and the influential social organizations.)

Ø Day 10 Fly back U.S. from Beijing

Notes: A fuller version of the itinerary will be disclosed to the 25 scholarship recipients.
